This forum is a place where people compare notes about gold IRAs, self-directed IRAs and precious metals held for retirement. It is not an advice service. Nobody here, the team included, is a licensed financial, tax or legal adviser, and nothing posted here is a recommendation to buy, sell or move retirement money.

Members write from their own experience. Some of it is accurate, some of it is out of date, and some of it is simply wrong. We read posts before and after they go live and we remove spam and obvious nonsense, but we cannot check every figure, fee or rule in every message. Treat what you read here as a starting point for your own questions, never as a verified fact.

Before you move a dollar: get the company’s fee schedule in writing, confirm the custodian and the depository by name, ask how buyback works and what it costs, and run the tax side past a professional who knows your situation. The IRS publishes the rules for IRAs at irs.gov; the companies publish their minimums and fees on their own sites. If what a salesperson tells you does not match those documents, stop and ask again.

Precious metals can lose value, fees weigh more on a small account than on a large one, and a rushed rollover can trigger taxes and penalties. Anyone who tells you otherwise, here or on the phone, is not doing you a favor.
